BMW: Ultimate Drives
Colorado Launch Party
About this site

Award-winning motoring writer Jeremy Walton first began writing about cars for a living in 1967 with the leading enthusiast's magazine of the day, Cars & Car Conversions. Over 40 years later, following spells at Motoring News and Motor Sport - plus competing in a wide variety of disciplines from autocross to 24-hour international saloon car racing - his enthusiasm for all things automotive remains undimmed.
The author of 35 published motoring books, JW shares his experience from the past and the present in this website.

Back in USA Bimmerland...

Walton's latest BMW book BMW: Ultimate Drives recently launched to critical acclaim, and sales success, in Colorado.

DRIVE IT DAY
Our 2012 got off to an excellent business start at Warthog towers with unexpected activity on BMW front including 7-Series research for a magazine that’s apparently slated to reach 4 million English speakers.

BMW UK allowed the chance of driving a brace of M cars (M3 GTS and 1M coupe) for Volume 2 of Walton’s Ultimate Drives saga, from Coterie Publishing.

A condensed version of our impressions appears in our Road Tests section.

A perfect March day saw us at Silverstone for the preview of the

At the races...
The thrilling opening Brands Hatch, Donington and Thruxton rounds of the BTCC completed, a lull occurred until the June 10 Oulton Park fixture. We have seen multiple different winning drivers and marques, including standing in the lashing rain at Thruxton courtesy of Honda who are looking increasingly effective.
Perhaps THE surprise was the form of the Triple Eight-prepped MG6, which showed immediate front running form and has won its first race already.

As this is written Jason Plato and MG Momentum Racing lead the series by four points over Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal in equally professionally entered Hondas.
An early winner in the dry was Rob Collard in the eBay BMW 320si (now with turbo power, like the other pair of eBay BMs). Mat Jackson has been a winner with the older spec Ford Focus—also part of a 3-car team.
