This recently published bigraphy of the late, great Gerry Marshall, written by Jeremy Walton and aided by Gerry's son Gregor, has been listed by C&SC magazine as its 'Book of the Month'.
In a rave review the mag says that it could even be the book of the year....
C&SC Review:
Is it really five years since Gerald Dallas Royston Masrshal slipped off this mortal coil? This time Jeremy Walton, author of the previous account of Gerry's tumultuous life, 1978's Only Here for the Beer, is aided by 'a product of 1977', Marshall junior, Gregor. Walton has talked to most of Gerry's family and friends too, whose wonderful anecdotes tell the story of an irrepressible, much-missed character. Others who are no longer with us - such as mates Tony Lanfranchi, Roger Clark and Bill Blydenstein - feature in the fantastic period photos, many of which are from the family archive. Gregor signs off with a remarkable tally of his dad's results. "I may not have 625 exactly," he points out, but he's documented more than 600 race and class wins. Never mind Book of the Month, it'll need something special to stop this being the best of 2010.
