Terry Horler is the contemporary benchmark in useful MG Midget/Sprite (abbreviated to Spridget) books that bridge the gap between workshop manual and an enthusiast's companion.
This title is a practical help to buying today, when the most valuable vehicles you inspect will be 50 years old, or more. You can bet most are certain to have been restored — or badly bodged — by now.
I bought a 1958 Frogeye without Horler's help using mainly obsolete books and reprint of BMC literature to identify changes in spec. I wish I'd had Horler by my side, as the trained toolmaker from the aerospace industry was co-founder of the Midget & Sprite Club. Terry doesn't take himself too seriously whilst having more practical knowledge than the multitude of self-appointed experts.
I found the book and it's pictorial element exceptional value. You will need more detail if you are particularly interested in originality or performance/motorsports, but as a preliminary buyer's guide at a sniff under a tenner I thought it was top value.
