For the 2006 Guild of Motoring Writers Classic Car Tour, I was privileged to drive this low-mileage and beautifully presented first edition Lotus Cortina. We visited the WW1 battlefields around the historic — and also rebuilt — Belgian city of Ypres.

Hot weather did not agree with Cortina‘s carburation and the original dynamo wilted under the strain of constant restarts. So we brought this 2-litre V4 Corsair (below) back to Britain at a steady 56 mph!
