Recalling Ford’s 1968 BTCC winner this beautiful restoration of the Alan Mann Escort Twin Cam XOO 349F is a popular exhibit at anniversaries (left Rockingham 2008) and Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Inside story: a section of Ford’s Heritage Collection at Dagenham in 2006. Today it has survived the cut-backs of the recession and remains a popular media facility.
The lineage behind the Ford GT (bottom right) traces back to the GT40s you see on the left and top right. The black and white action picture is of a privately owned GT40 track tested by Jeremy in the late 70s whilst the green No 1 car (top right) is a GT40 Ford have kept from new. It has appeared in various guises and was driven by JW to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Ford’s 1-2-3 Le Mans 1966 victory.
In 2000/1 Jeremy got involved in tracing the history of the last GT70. Unlike the grey car shown above, the last GT70 was built purely for competition around the Cosworth 4-cylinder, 16 valve, instead of the Ford Cologne V6.

The GT70 shown carried an appropriate GT70 plate and belonged to an Essex Ford dealership.

The last Capri manufactured was this 280 Brooklands Green limited edition of December 1986. This historic Capri is retained by Ford of Britain today and Jeremy was lucky enough to drive it as it clocked up 20,000 miles.
